I have acer aspire 7520, bought in 2007, worked like a dream then started acting wierd in dec '09. failing to boot, freezing part way thru post, then when it did boot, dvd drive disappeared and re-appeared sporadically and other such annoyances.. My acer laptop has a factory installed cd/dvd rw installed and it recently has failed to recognize the cd drive. every time i put a disc into the drive it wil spin the disc but will not read or open the programs.. I can open the optical drive and insert a cd/dvd but once the drive is shut the cd/dvd does not read..
